Enzo is a beautiful Irish Setter that came to us from Santa Monica for minor aggression and obedience boot camp training. He was very stubborn and resistant, but left the camp much calmer and much more behaved!

about this brentwood dog training boot camp client

Enzo is a beautiful male Irish Setter from the city of Santa Monica, close to Brentwood, in the Los Angeles County of California 90291. Irish Setters are a breed typically used for hunting. He came to us at K-9 Behavior Services at six years old, and very stubborn! He would actually pull on the leash so hard, that he would pull his owners to the ground and even cause injury at time. He had some dog aggression, and we knew we had our hands full. We couldn’t even lightly pull Enzo in any direction without him pull the opposite direction with all of his strength, something he learned at a young age and had been doing most of his life!

Enzo had a very strong, what we call, opposition reflex. Combine that with his aggression towards dogs, and you have a recipe for disaster. It had gotten so bad, that his owners could hardly walk him down the street. Being that Enzo was living in an apartment, that was causing major problems! Even at six years old, it was time for Enzo to learn some new tricks.

Dog aggression training is a very popular training program throughout Brentwood, Santa Monica, Calabasas, Culver City, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Ventura County areas.

It took some time, about two weeks, and some serious training, but we got Enzo to behave, heel nicely, sit, down, place, and generally be more respectful and more obedience. Even though his owners will really have to follow through with the program, We are confident that Enzo will live a much calmer and generally better life after the training.

We have received excellent responses back from Enzo’s owners so far, and we look forward to the follow up session, which should be soon.

This dog aggression training program is offered in other cities such as Brentwood, Malibu, Culver City, Calabasas, Zuma Beach, Thousand Oaks, Woodland Hills, Beverly Hills, Studio City, and Bel Air.

K-9 Behavior Services is one of the most well respected and successful dog training companies in America. All of the trainers have been trained by Jeremy Talamantes. The company has established it’s name and reputation on the success they have had with their clients. Their stellar reputation can be seen all over television, newsprint, the news, and the internet, including videos with Charlie Sheen, television appearances with The Doctors, Storage Wars, Giuliana & Bill, and TMZ Live with Harvey Levin, youtube.com videos with the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, articles in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, articles in the Ventura County Star, on K-CAL 9 as the authority on pit bulls and dog aggression, on Channel 5 as the authority on service dog training, and much more.

Brentwood is one of the toughest cities to be successful in dog training because of the fierce competition that surrounds the dog training world. Many trainers flock to Los Angeles to break into the business because of the opportunity to establish themselves among the best. However, K-9 Behavior Services has proven themselves to be the company to challenge and the company to beat. Nevertheless, the company has proven time after time that they are the leaders in the industry. From running the largest working K-9 training ranch in America, to television appearances as the authority on dog training, protection dogs, services dogs, and dog aggression, K-9 Behavior Services stands alone on a level of success that no others have ever reached, but many endeavor to reach.

All of the trainers that are referred by K-9 Behavior Services have been review, researched, interviewed, and asked a myriad of questions and filled out forms to make sure only the best are being referred. Even though the company refers the best, it is always recommended to do your due diligence to ensure you are 100% comfortable with who is training your dog.

MORE ABOUT THE IRISH SETTER BREED
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/irish_setter
The coat is moderately long, silky, and of a red or chestnut color. It requires frequent brushing to maintain its condition and keep it mat-free. The undercoat is abundant in winter weather, and the top coat is fine. Their coats should also feather in places such as the tail, ears, chest, legs, and body. Irish Setters range in height from 24 to 28 inches (61 to 71 cm), males weigh 65 to 75 lb (29 to 34 kg) and females 55 to 65 lb (25 to 29 kg). The FCI Breed Standard for the Irish Setter stipulates males stand 23 to 26.5 inches (58 to 67 cm) tall, and females be 21.5 to 24.5 inches (55 to 62 cm) tall. Irish Setters are deep chested dogs with small waists. An Irish Setter’s life expectancy tends to be around 11 to 12 years.

Irish Setters get along well with children, other dogs, and will enthusiastically greet visitors. Even though they do well with household pets, small animals may pose a problem for this breed, as they are a hunting breed. Some Irish Setters may have problems with cats in the house, and may be too rambunctious with small children. As the FCI, ANKC and UK Standards state, the breed should be “Demonstrably affectionate.” As a result, Irish Setters make excellent companion animals and family pets.

Irish Setters are an active breed, and require long, daily walks and off-lead running in wide, open spaces. They are, however, a breed with a tendency to ‘play deaf,’ so careful training on mastering the recall should be undertaken before allowing them off-lead.

Irish Setters enjoy having a job to do. Lack of activity will lead to a bored, destructive, or even hyperactive dog. This is not a breed that can be left alone in the backyard for long periods of time, nor should they be. Irish Setters thrive on constant human companionship. Irish Setters respond swiftly to positive training and are highly intelligent.

Though they are usually alert to their surroundings, Irish Setters are not well-suited as guard dogs, as they are not a naturally assertive breed.

Irish Setters are also widely used as therapy dogs in schools and hospitals. Therapy dogs are permitted in hospitals with special permission and can visit patients on the assigned floors. In schools the dogs may be used to create a calming and relaxed environment. A child may read to a dog without being corrected or judged.
